Krishna, the eight child
a gentle, child-friendly retelling of Lord Krishna’s birth story, focusing on one of the most dramatic moments in Indian mythology. The story begins with the cruel king Kansa, who is warned that his sister Devaki’s eighth child will one day defeat him. Out of fear, he imprisons Devaki and her husband Vasudeva and destroys each child born to them. When the eighth child—Krishna—is finally born, something magical happens. Despite the heavy guards and locked prison, Vasudeva is able to carry the newborn across the river Yamuna on a stormy night. The river parts, and nature itself seems to protect the baby. He is safely left in Gokul with Yashoda and Nanda, where he grows up away from danger
