A Saree for Ammi

In the vibrant village of Kaithoon, India, renowned for its exquisite handwoven saris, a young girl observes her mother’s dedication to weaving beautiful saris for others, yet never wearing one herself. Determined to gift her Ammi a sari of her own, the girl and her sister, Sadaf, embark on a heartfelt journey. They break open their gullak (piggy bank), take on small jobs, and seek creative ways to earn enough money. Their adventure not only showcases their love and determination but also offers a glimpse into the rich tapestry of Indian weaving traditions. This touching tale, complemented by Sandhya Prabhat’s vivid illustrations, celebrates familial love, perseverance, and the joy of giving.
