Laxmi’s Mooch
Laxmi, a young Indian American girl, never paid much attention to the tiny hairs above her lip—her mooch. However, during a game at recess, her friends point out that her “whiskers” would make her the perfect cat. This comment leads Laxmi to become self-conscious about her body hair, noticing it on her arms, legs, and between her eyebrows. Feeling embarrassed, she turns to her parents, who lovingly explain that body hair is natural and common among people of all genders. They share stories of strong women, including family members and cultural icons like Frida Kahlo, who embraced their body hair. Empowered by this newfound understanding, Laxmi returns to school with confidence, helping her classmates appreciate and celebrate their own unique features. Recommeded age – 4+ Years
